Choosing a career with PIRC

We offer many types of roles within PIRC. 

Whether you are an Investigator, a Review Officer or hold one of our many operational and support roles, everyone works towards delivering our main aim: to secure public confidence in policing in Scotland.

Current vacancies

We want our teams to reflect our local communities, and bring a variety of skills, strengths and talents to PIRC.

Our roles

Working in a dedicated team, you will deal with challenging cases, investigating why and how serious incidents involving the police have occurred. You will examine police files, CCTV, legislation and police procedures and protocols to produce a final investigation report.

You may offer additional support as a Family Liaison Officer, providing families with regular updates on the progress on an investigation and offering advice where appropriate.

As an Investigator, you will also play an important role in making recommendations for change around policing procedures and policy, based on your findings.

As a Review Officer, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of complaint handling review requests. 

Through your analysis of the request, you need to provide a sympathetic yet objective approach to supporting the applicants through their review. You will examine police files, legislation and police procedures and protocols to produce a Complaint Handling Review (CHR) report. 

Working in a team, you will provide a valuable service in supporting members of the public during a difficult time. 

As Review Officer, you will also play an important role in making recommendations for change and learning around policing policy and service delivery.

Whilst we have two main areas of service, we could not deliver these without the many vital operational and support roles across the organisation. 

From finance to HR, or information governance to communications, we need people with a wide range of skills.
