The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose as a result of the applicant’s reports to the police about an ongoing dispute with her neighbours. We have reviewed the handling of two complaints, namely that:
- On 21 May 2022, officers failed to take action when the applicant reported a workman acting in a threatening manner towards her; and
- An officer did not act impartially when dealing with the applicant’s reports, by repeatedly saying that the applicant had committed a crime.
Police Scotland’s Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold either of the applicant’s complaints.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland handled complaint 1 to a reasonable standard, but not so complaint 2.
However, we have not recommended any further action by Police Scotland in connection with complaint 2.
