The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose after officers stopped and searched the applicant under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
We have reviewed the handling of two complaints, namely that:
- that between 2020 and 6 July 2021, the applicant had been stopped and searched by the police numerous times which he believed was unnecessary and amounted to harassment, as no drugs were ever found.
- that on 6 July 2021 an officer damaged the applicant’s phone when he was stopped and searched.
Police Scotland’s Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold either of the applicant’s complaints.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland both of the applicant’s complaints to a reasonable standard.
