The Complaint
The complaints in this case arose following the applicant’s attempts to report international crimes that he states he was a victim of whilst living abroad several years ago.
We have reviewed the handling of three complaints, namely that:
- Officers failed to pass the applicant’s reports of crimes to another law enforcement agency;
- Officers acted inappropriately by conveying the applicant to an NHS facility for a mental health assessment which led to his detention under the Mental Health Act; and
- Officers entered a malicious and untrue report on ‘police systems’.
Police Scotland’s Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold any of the applicant’s complaints.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland handled all of the applicant’s complaints to a reasonable standard.
