Report - Police Scotland - PIRC/00486/21
The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose from Police Scotland’s enquiry into an incident which took place at the applicant’s son’s school.
We have reviewed the handling of four complaints, namely that:
A police officer lied in his report to the Scottish Children’s Reporters Administration regarding the details of the offence for which the applicant’s son was accused;
The same officer lied in an email to the applicant regarding the details of the offence for which his son was accused;
The same officer failed to conduct an adequate investigation into the incident by failing to consider all of the available evidence; and
The same officer stopped communicating with the applicant after a period of time, and refused to provide a photograph of graffiti to the applicant after he requested it.
Police Scotland’s Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold any of the applicant’s complaints.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland handled all four of the applicant’s complaints to a reasonable standard.
