The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose following the sudden death of the applicant’s father.
We have reviewed the handling of three complaints, namely that:
Police Scotland took five days to inform the family of their involvement in the investigation of the sudden death of the applicant’s father;
Police Scotland called the applicant’s mother after being told that no further contact was to be made with her; and
A police officer insisted that the applicant’s mother attend the undertaker to identify her husband’s body.
Police Scotland’s Decision
Police Scotland upheld complaints 1 and 2 but did not uphold complaint 3.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland handled the applicant’s complaints to a reasonable standard.
