Report - Police Scotland - PIRC/00377/21
The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose after police officers attended at the applicant’s address to arrest his son under warrant.
We have reviewed the handling of four complaints, namely that on 13 October 2020:
officers failed to carry out sufficient investigations prior to attending at the applicant’s address to search for his son under warrant;
an officer treated the applicant in an uncivil manner to provoke him into swearing at them;
an officer treated the applicant in an uncivil manner by laughing and mocking him; and
an officer treated the applicant in an uncivil manner by continually banging his door and smirking and sneering at him.
Police Scotland’s Decision
Police Scotland upheld complaints 1, 2 and 3 but not complaint 4.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland handled all of the applicant’s complaints to a reasonable standard.
