Report - Police Scotland - PIRC/00337/21
The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose as a result of Police Scotland’s visits to the applicant’s home in relation to an ongoing neighbour dispute.
We have reviewed the handling of three complaints, namely:
that an officer provided an inaccurate version of events relating to police visits to the applicant’s home, by stating that officers were “thrown out of the house”;
that the officer displayed an unfair and biased attitude towards the applicant and his sister by not affording them the opportunity to discuss ongoing issues relating to their neighbour; and
that the officer failed to show courtesy and respect to the applicant and the applicant’s sister during her interactions with them.
Police Scotland’s Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold the applicant’s complaints.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland handled complaints 1 and 2 to a reasonable standard but not so complaint 3.
However, we have not made any recommendation in this connection.
