The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose from Police Scotland’s response to a concern for person reported by the applicant’s neighbour.
We have reviewed the handling of two complaints, namely:
on 9 May 2021 Police Scotland failed to carry out sufficient investigations prior to forcing entry to the applicant’s home address; and
on 9 May 2021 after forcing entry to the applicant’s home address, officers informed the applicant and his neighbour, incorrectly, that Police Scotland would pay the costs of repair for the damage caused.
Police Scotland’s Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold the applicant’s complaints.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland handled the complaints to a reasonable standard.
