The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose after the applicant reported that employees and a director of a company were selling off company stock for personal gain. The applicant , previously, was a director of the company and maintained a shareholding at the time of his complaints.
We have reviewed the handling of four complaints, namely that:
- officers were untruthful regarding their communication with the Insolvency Service;
- Police Scotland did not respond to emails sent by the applicant regarding his concerns over police decisions in relation to the removal of property from a company;
- officers carried out insufficient enquiry into the applicant’s reports of company linked crimes made between March and August 2023; and
- officers stated in an email in August 2023 that the individual named by the applicant was selling stock, which the applicant believed was fabricated.
Police Scotland's Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold any of the applicant’s complaints.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland handled all of the applicant’s complaints to a reasonable standard. No further action is required of Police Scotland in relation to the complaints considered in this review.
