Report - Police Scotland - PIRC/00112/21
The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose following the applicant’s enquires with Police Scotland about the legality and potential action that Police Scotland would take in a hypothetical scenario involving the applicant filming the entrance, staff and service users of a police station in Scotland.
We have reviewed the handling of two complaints, namely that:
Between 5 and 11 February 2021, the applicant was not satisfied with the explanation provided to him by C3[1] staff; and
Between 5 and 11 February 2021, the applicant was of the opinion that he was lied to by C3 staff.
Police Scotland’s Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold either of the applicant’s complaints.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland handled both of the applicant’s complaints to a reasonable standard.
[1] C3 (Command, Contact and Control Division, Police Scotland) is a national division designed to provide frontline advice, support and assistance to Scotland’s public and police alike.
