The Complaints

We have reviewed the handling of six complaints, namely:

  1. that on 6 May 2020 an officer ordered the applicant to destroy her CCTV footage without viewing it;
  2. on the same day, an officer attempted to stop the applicant talking by putting his hand in front of her face;
  3. On 24 July 2020 an officer behaved in an unprofessional manner whilst handling paperwork containing the applicant’s personal information;
  4. the applicant was intimidated into signing a statement straight away without being able to read it or the process being explained;
  5. On or after 24 July 2020, an officer said he would send the applicant a typed copy of her statement which he failed to do; and
  6. On or after 24 July 2020, an officer said he would arrange for a written apology to be sent which he failed to do. 

Police Scotland’s Decision

Police Scotland did not uphold any of the applicant’s complaints.

Our Findings

We have found that Police Scotland handled all of the applicant’s complaints to a reasonable standard.
