Report - Police Scotland - PIRC/00011/21
The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose following a report the applicant made to the police.
We have reviewed the handling of five complaints, namely that:
officers did not properly investigate three incidents of alleged harassment towards the applicant and her daughter;
an officer was uncivil towards the applicant and her daughter;
an officer noted inaccurate details when taking the applicant’s daughter’s statement;
an officer was biased against the applicant due to a previous complaint about the police the applicant had submitted about another officer; and
a sergeant was biased against the applicant and her daughter, as they had previously lodged a complaint about the sergeant.
Police Scotland’s Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold any of the applicant’s complaints.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland handled complaints 1, 3, 4 and 5 to a reasonable standard, but not so for complaint 2.
No further action required in this connection.
