Where relevant, we publish our responses to Freedom of Information requests under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA).
This response addressed the following query:
- “Since 2014 please advise how many taser deployments have performed by Constables in Kirkcaldy or constables deployed to Kirkcaldy Police Station.
Please break this number down year on year and month on month. - Please advise if there have been any fatalities related to the deployment of a Taser Fireman?
- Please advise how many Taser Deployments were undertaken by STO's?”
I have responded to your points below.
- Since 2014 please advise how many taser deployments have performed by Constables in Kirkcaldy or constables deployed to Kirkcaldy Police Station.

Please advise how many Taser Deployments were undertaken by STO's
The number of taser deployments, including month and date and if they were undertaken by a Specially Trained Officer (STO), in Kirkcaldy or constables deployed to Kirkcaldy Police Station since 2014 are:
2022/23 – 1 use of Taser by an STO in February 2023
2019/20 – 1 use of Taser in September 2019
2018/19 – 1 use of Taser in January 2019
- Please advise if there have been any fatalities related to the deployment of a Taser Firearm
There have been no fatalities in Kirkcaldy through police use of Taser.
