The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose after the applicant made separate reports to the police that he was being harassed by both his landlord and another tenant. The applicant reported that his landlord had harassed and intimidated him by sending him repeated emails. The applicant also made a report to the police about his fellow tenant’s threatening behaviour towards him.
We have reviewed the handling of three complaints, namely that:
- On 29 November 2023, the applicant reported ongoing harassment from his landlord, but no action was taken;
- After he reported the harassment, the applicant submitted emails for review but received no update; and
- On 9 July 2024, the applicant reported threatening patterns of behaviour and felt an officer did not show support and dismissed his concerns.
Police Scotland's Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold the applicant’s complaints.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland handled the applicant’s complaints to a reasonable standard.
