The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose after the applicant reported alleged drug dealing to the police.
We have reviewed the handling of six complaints, namely that:
- A female call handler spoke to the applicant in a mocking, abrupt and rude manner during a phone call on 26 July 2020;
- Officers who attended the applicant’s address on 26 July 2020 left her in a state of fear or alarm;
- Police Scotland did not obtain an ASBO in connection with information the applicant provided;
- Correspondence the applicant received from a constable was impersonal;
- Police Scotland demonstrated a lack of concern as they provided no structure or designated person to deal with the applicant at a time of distress; and;
- A constable was uncivil during a phone call when he said “people who submit intelligence to police are referred to as a grass or a snitch”.
Police Scotland's Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold any of the applicant’s complaints.
