The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose after the applicant reported to the police that he had been assaulted by his neighbour. We have reviewed the handling of two complaints, namely that:
- Following the applicant’s report of assault, the accused was given a Recorded Police Warning and was not reported to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service; and
- The applicant’s report of assault was not taken seriously due to the accused's daughter having served with the police.
Police Scotland’s Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold any of the applicant’s complaints.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland handled the applicant’s complaints to a reasonable standard.
