The Complaints

The complaints in this case arose as a result of the applicant being arrested in connection with an incident that occurred at a COVID-19 vaccination centre. We have reviewed the handling of three complaints, namely that:

  1. the applicant was unlawfully arrested;
  2. an officer snatched the applicant’s mobile phone from his grip; and
  3. an officer looked at data contained within the applicant’s mobile phone without having reason or lawful authority to do so.

Police Scotland’s Decision

Police Scotland did not uphold any of the applicant’s complaints.

Our Findings

We have found that Police Scotland handled all of the applicant’s complaints to a reasonable standard.

There is no further action required of Police Scotland.
