The Complaints
The complaints in this case arose after the applicant reported his neighbour to the police.
We have reviewed the handling of three complaints, namely that:
- On 7 January 2022 the applicant was unable to contact Police Scotland on the ‘101’ service after trying 3 times and, instead, he had to use the online reporting tool;
- When the applicant’s partner contacted Police Scotland, a diary appointment was deemed suitable despite them both being in a state of fear and alarm; and,
- In relation to events on 7 January 2022, when the applicant and his partner were in a state of fear and alarm after being advised by another neighbour of a male peering into their garden, the applicant was not afforded the opportunity to provide police with a statement and CCTV evidence.
Police Scotland’s Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold any of the applicant’s complaints.
Our Findings
