The Complaints
The complaint in this case arose after the police attended a road traffic collision. The applicant was involved in a road traffic collision (RTC) on a roundabout. The applicant’s husband and child were both passengers in her vehicle at the time of the collision. Officers attended the scene and, after viewing the other driver’s dash cam footage of the incident, issued the applicant with a Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty Notice (COFPN) for careless driving. We have reviewed the handling of one complaints, namely that:
- On 10 April 2023, an officer lied to the applicant, and issued her with a Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty based on a lie.
Police Scotland's Decision
Police Scotland did not uphold the applicant’s complaint.
Our Findings
We have found that Police Scotland handled the applicant’s complaint to a reasonable standard.
There is no further action required by Police Scotland in this connection.
