A complaint handling review (CHR) published today by the Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) found that two of three complaints were handled to a reasonable standard by Police Scotland. The Review Team issued one recommendation to Police Scotland to address the third complaint.

The applicant complained to Police Scotland following his interaction with them on two occasions after reporting noise coming from his neighbour's home.  On reviewing how Police Scotland handled each of the applicant's complaints, the Review Team recommended that the third complaint, that "the officers had greater concern for charging the applicant than checking on the welfare of his family or his neighbour", be reassessed with a further response sent to the applicant.
