The Commissioner is investigating the use of PAVA spray by officers with Police Scotland during an incident in Dundee.

A spokesman for the PIRC said:

“The Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) is investigating an incident in Dundee on 8 February 2018 involving a 32-year-old man where an incapacitant spray – known as Captor PAVA – was discharged by an officer with Police Scotland before the man was arrested.

“The incident was referred by Police Scotland to the PIRC for investigation and a report on the Commissioner’s findings will be submitted to the Deputy Chief Constable in due course.”
