The PIRC was established in 2013 and is responsible for carrying out independent investigations into incidents involving the police and independently review the way the police handle complaints from the public.

Our aim is to secure public confidence in policing in Scotland by supporting continuous improvement and promoting positive change.

The Police Investigation & Review Commissioner is currently seeking to recruit an Administrator to join her team in Hamilton.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to work in a fast paced environment with a growing, progressive organisation.

As an Administrator you will provide support to the Investigations and Review teams, encompassing a variety of tasks which require excellent, accurate typing, including audio, and administrative skills.  There will also be a requirement at times to cover other admin functions within PIRC.

You must be able to demonstrate experience of the following specific duties (see candidate information pack for full details):

  • To carry out word processing, copy and audio typing, formatting and quality assuring reports, witness statements and letters 
  • To deal with telephone and email enquiries 
  • To maintain filing systems, organise and store paperwork, documents and computer-based information, in accordance with our records management policy and ensure that data security is maintained at all times 
  • To process data and maintain databases 
  • To monitor all resource mailboxes, assessment and referrals log and action appropriately

The successful candidate must have a good standard of education and be able to evidence their abilities to meet the essential requirements for the post.
