The Police Investigations and Reviews Commissioner (PIRC) is investigating the use of an incapacitant spray, known as PAVA, on a 39 year old man in Fraserburgh on 16 November 2018.
A spokesperson for the PIRC's investigations team said:
"We are investigatng an incident where PAVA spray was discharged by an officer from Police Scotland at a 39 year old man.
"Our investigation will focus on the police handling of the incident at the scene in Fraserburgh on 16 November 2018.
"As is standard procedure, the case was referred to the PIRC by Police Scotland and a report will be submitted to them in due course."
