The Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) is investigating the serious injury of a 68-year-old man in Edinburgh.

The investigation will focus on the police response prior to the man being found.

A spokeswoman for the PIRC said:

“The Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) is carrying out an investigation after a 68-year-old man was found seriously injured in a garden at an address in Edinburgh on 31 May 2018.

“The investigation will focus on the circumstances leading up to discovery of the man, in particular the police response to calls received regarding concerns for the man’s welfare.

“The matter was referred to the PIRC by Police Scotland and a report will be submitted in due course.”
