The Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) is investigating the police response and missing person search for a 39-year-old woman, later found dead.
The body of the woman was discovered at her home in Musselburgh on 9 May 2018.
A spokesman for the PIRC said:
“The Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) is investigating the circumstances leading up to the death of a 39-year-old woman, who was reported missing.
“The woman was last seen at her home address in Musselburgh on 5 May 2018.
“Her body was later found on Wednesday 9 May 2018 at her home following a report of concern about her welfare made the previous day.
“The PIRC investigation will focus on the response from Police Scotland, including the initial search of her home address on Tuesday 8 May 2018.
“The matter was referred to the PIRC by Police Scotland and a report will be sent to the Chief Constable in due course.”
